400 members who are employed at a variety of companies and enterprises as professionals interested in quality. Our goal is to spread the word about the benefits of implementing and using quality practices in our professional and personal lives.
We have an active section that provides many opportunities for our members to expand their knowledge and associations with other quality
professionals in the Rhode Island area.
Please join us at our monthly dinner meetings where you will find a casual atmosphere,
great food and excellent networking opportunities.
Our program content and speakers are selected to cover topics that are relevant and
appealing to many industries including manufacturing, service,
finance, education and healthcare.
On behalf of our Leadership Team and members, we hope to see you

Excerpt
from the Spring Quality Times:
Message
from the Chairperson
Our thoughts are with our fellow Southern New Englander's and in particular, our membership who have experienced hardships caused by the recent rain and subsequent flood. We've all seen the destructive pictures on television and in the newspapers. The scenes are heart-wrenching. Those families who are displaced from their devastated homes are seeking shelter and a safe place to think about what the future may hold. Be comforted by the mere fact of your resilience and may this transition to normalcy be short. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Rich
Rattey

QMP ( Quality Management Process )
Update
|
|
|
The Quality Management Process (QMP) combines and replaces the Section Management Process (SMP) and Division Management Process (DMP). It was developed to assist Member Units in their planning and implementation of services and programs to meet the needs of their current and future members. It is simply a management process that emphasizes the importance of:
• Assessing member needs and expectations.• Developing an annual business plan and operating budget.• Measuring the Member Units performance.
Combining the Society’s goals of increased member satisfaction, loyalty, and retention with the Member unit’s own goals, QMP encourages Member Units to continually measure, address, and improve customer satisfaction by incremental improvement. QMP also recognizes Member Units for performance (based on results) through two awards:
• Quality Excellence Award• Total Quality Award
The requirements for receiving recognition include meeting the Member Unit minimum requirements, developing and implementing a Member Unit annual business plan, operating budget, meeting all the QMP deadlines, and showing improvement on specific measures.

ASQ in the News:
U.S. Automakers and Lean Material Handling
The continued impact of proactive media placements by
ASQ Headquarters has benefitted the Society in positive
ways, helping us to advance the cause of quality and
promote the ASQ brand. This week, Ron Atkinson, an ASQ
past-president, was featured in a story that ran in IndustryWeek
about how U.S. auto manufacturers are back on top due to
quality improvements. Also, Tony Manos, chair of the ASQ
Lean Enterprise Division, was featured in a story that
ran in Material Handling Management that
explains why material handling professionals must
develop controls and techniques for eliminating wasteful
tasks.
