Tips for Exams
The night before...
- Place your Primer index and any loose documents in a separate folder for easy reference
- Pack any reference books that may be helpful to you, but don’t overload
- Bring extra #2 pencils, a ruler, eraser, worksheets, scrap paper or notebook, and your calculator with the instruction booklet
- Get a good night’s sleep
The morning of the exam...
- Eat a good breakfast and pack a snack
including a beverage to bring with you
- Arrive at the test site 30 minutes early to sign in and get organized
Test taking Tips...
- Read the entire question at least twice before looking at the answers
- Look for key words in the question, like ALWAYS, NEVER, NOT, BEST, INCLUDES
- Read ALL answers before making your choice
- Use the process of elimination to choose the best answer
- Answer the questions you know or can look up quickly... place a mark next to the questions you need to go back to
circle your answer on the test paper
- You can mark the computer sheet as you go along, or transfer all your answers at the end… either way, leave yourself enough time to double-check
- On the computer sheet, use your ruler to keep answers in the correct row
- Go back to work on the questions that will take you longer to do
- Take rest room or fresh air breaks as needed
- Keep track of time
- If you have time, make a final review of your exam to see if you want to make any changes, but sometimes it’s best to go with your first instinct
GOOD LUCK!
