Each year, the RIASQ awards two college scholarships to the most qualified candidates.

The two scholarship recipients for 2011 are as follows:


Julia Stevens

  • Father: Jeff Stevens has been an ASQ member for 25+ years, former Section Chair

  • 2011 Graduate of East Greenwich High School with a 4.625 GPA and Salutatorian of 2011 Class

  • Honor Roll 2008, 2009, 2010

  • National Honor Society 2010

  • 5th in RI on the National French Exam in 2009

  • Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award 2010

  • 1st Place Team in the RI High School Chemistry Competition in 2010

  • Tennis Team JV 9th and 10th grade, Varsity 11th and 12th, Second Team All-Division Doubles Tennis 2009, 2010

  • Indoor Track Varsity 9th, 10th

  • Sailing Varsity 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th, Co-Captain 12th 

  • Other activities include Drama Club, Math Team, Gay-Straight Alliance, Games Club, Firth Lutheran Church Youth Group

  • Community Service includes Elementary School Science and Math Nights, CROP walk, Homeless AwarenessCampout, Election Day Poll Volunteer, May Breakfast Volunteer

  • Serves as a Sailing Instructor for the Greenwich Bay Sailing Association

  • Will be attending Brown University with a major in Chemical Engineering

Megan Warburton

  • Father: Charlie Warburton has been an ASQ member for 25 years

  • 2011 Graduate from Toll Gate High School in Warwick with a 4.26 GPA 

  • Honor Roll all 4 years

  • National Spanish Honor Society (Grades 11, 12)

  • Rhode Island Honor Society (Grade 12)

  • Activities include: Environmental Club, Newspaper Club, Photography Club and Tutoring

  • Also Active in the Gorton Pond Watershed Association, Church Youth Group, Warwick Public Library Summer

  • Volunteer, Horse Play Sanctuary help and Trainer, Pawtuxet Rangers

  • Enjoys Dance and Horseback Riding

  • Will be attending Rhode Island College with a major in Pre-Veterinary studies
